Upcoming events, meetings and outings...

Hope everyone is surviving the last of winter and ready to plant for spring.

A list of datesfor meetings and outings follows. Please RSVP if you are or are not able to attend meetings or outings. Don't forget your aprons!!

March 28, 2010

A meeting and outing 11:00 am to Brown's Emporium. After a brief meeting and a few hours of browsing 18,000 sq. feet of antique booths we will have lunch at a local restaurant. There are several to choose from. Brown's is located at I-70 and Noland Road.

As an added bonus there is an in-store promotional of 15 % off everything in the entire store except items marked firm or on sale. This only happens three times a year and TAH DAH it is our day to visit. The store would like to know the number of farmgirls attending so they can prepare a table for us. Hosted by Carol McElroy. If you are interested in fiber arts this is a wonderful opportunity to see alpacas up close and get informtion.

This year MOPCA is being held in Kansas City, so take advantage of the location and this wonderful event.



We can attend as a group if interested. Please let me know soon about this event.


The Midwest Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association host their 7th annual show at the American Royal/Hale Arena in Kansas City, MO. This event features over 500 loveable alpacas being exhibited in judged competitions. Auxiliary events of spin-off and fiber arts competitions, fleece show, and photo contests will be on display. Over 30 vendors will be showcasing their wares of alpaca garments, farm supplies, jewelry, and more! There is a Silent Auction benefiting veterinary students at Kansas State, Missouri University, and Oklahoma State. Over 200 farms will be set up and ready to welcome visitors. Bring the whole family out for a day of fun. March 20th-21th, 2009. Doors open to the public at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Free to the Public. Visit www.mopaca.org for more details.

We can picnic at the gardens or make a reservation in Deerborn at Cook's Corner or Hamer's in Edgerton.

Jim and Lamoine Hedgecock have over 2,500 different iris and in June the daylilies will be in bloom.
Bring your camera and all mothers get an iris to take home. Bring your mother for a pre-mother's day outing.



June 14 OR 15 , 2010

Farmgirls of the Heartland will be hosting dinner for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Road Trip and visiting farmgirls from the area.

Dutch ovens over a fire/ pot luck / BBQ at Shoal Creek Living History Museum. There will be a sign up sheet at the meetings.

A discussion for a menu is needed.

Farmgirls of the Heartland will be hosting an " Apron Gathering" for all farmgirls across the miles. Located at Shoal Creek Living History Museum. Sign up to help with your favorite events. All hands on deck. We are sponsoring the Apron Gathering at the Farm Fair - Back to Basics.

Signature Quilt person needed.

Quilt show person needed.

Hospitality for farmgirls attending needed.

Contests are: photography, handwork, canned goods and baked goods. Assistance is needed and please enter.

Farmgirls may camp at this location at no charge. Hostpitality is needed for those staying on the grounds.
